A 16-year-old Evelyn Namasope is lucky to be alive to tell the tale about how she lost her wrist after an illegal hold miner tried to rape her.
Namasopo who is a student at Rusununguko managed to escape with her life after a rapist tried to rape her.
The 16-year-old said one Everisto Mutawu has been pursuing her for some time now but she has been refusing to date him.
After several attempts, it is reported that Mutawu became violent towards Evelyn to the extent that he tried to rape her.
On the 10th of January 2024, it was reported that Mutawu forcibly asked Evelyn to take off her clothes, when she resisted he then charged her.
After stripping the girl naked, she managed to overpower him, and he then slept aside.
Upon waking up it is reported that Mutawu reached out for a machete from his pants which he used to cut off Evelyn’s wrist.
The 16-year-old managed to run for her life even though she had blood oozing from her wrist.
Evelyn was fortunate enough to get medical assistance which helped stop the bleeding.
A number of Shurugwi locals have since started calling for justice for the girl child who has been made disabled by a sex monger.
